Udara

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

At Udara Bali we are deeply committed to sustainability in all aspects of our resort.
This is why constantly strive to improve on the three pillars of sustainability: Environmental, Economy and Society.

Fighting Bali's Plastic Problem!

  • Our straws are made of biodegradable plastic straw to create much less plastic waste that ends up in the ocean!
  • Similarly, we provide our toiletries such as soap, shampoo and conditioner in refillable dispensers instead of throwaway plastic bottles. We use Sensatia Botanicals which are made in Bali and vegan, cruelty-free and biodegradable as well. These hygiene articles are eco friendly, meaning that they are better for your skin and hair as well as pollute the environment less.
  • We frequently organize beach clean ups, where our team helps remove waste from any surrounding areas or beaches so this does not wind up in the ocean.

ENERGY

  • At Udara Bali we have solar heating for our hot water system. This means that we can harness the power of the sun, which is a renewable source of energy, and creates no air pollution!
  • We also mainly use LED lamps, which use less energy and therefore have a lower environmental footprint.
  • At our organic ocean restaurant we do not offer meat products, due to the large amount of resources that are required to produce it. We have a wide range of meals that are made from local organic ingredients and are healthy and delicious, as well as more environmentally friendly.

Building

  • In our construction we have used a lot of wood, however this is all certified Indonesian plantation wood.
  • We also have a lot of vintage features which have been repurposed from previous projects!

Economy

Supporting the local businesses is also part of Udara Bali’s sustainability responsibility.

  • We obtain our fish and seafood from the local fishermen, who use sustainable fishing methods.
  • We try to use local suppliers for all of our purchases, as much as possible.
  • We support the local driver community, who struggles against bigger corporations such as Grab and GoJek, by enabling our guests to use their services.

Society

At Udara Bali our community is very important to us! Being located in a still authentic and traditional Balinese fishermen village, we strive to live with the community, rather than commercialising it, as has sadly happened in many parts of Bali.

  • Several of our staff members are from Seseh and we offer trainee placement for local students of hospitably schools.
  • We have built in the traditional Balinese style, that fits with authentic fishermen village architecture and therefore remain the cultural heritage of Seseh.
